Creating a Literate Nation by Leveraging the Power of the Family

Questions from Gary

[flickr]photo:2404759343[/flickr]  Gary Knell is the President and Chief Executive Officer of Sesame Workshop.  Gary and his furry pal Grover recently spoke at out conference.  Gary stressed the importance of technology...and not just for the students.  Family literacy teachers must continue to learn about technology to stay in tune with the younger generation of "technology natives." Sesame Workshop will be focusing on the 6-9 year olds demographic when they reintroduce "The Electric Company" this January. But what else can Gary and others at Sesame do to help make learning fun?  What can be done to help not only students but also teachers?  Here are some questions posed to you from Gary himself.  This is your chance to let us know the tools you need!  Simply click on the add comments box, and give your suggestions to us at NCFL and Gary and crew at Sesame.  Thanks for helping! Question #1 What is it, specifically, that needs to change in literacy? Question #2 What tools from Sesame would be most helpful to you in family literacy programs? Describe what you envision and how the tool(s) would improve or supplement your efforts.
